Bloody Mary invented

The Bloody Mary refers to the vodka, tomato juice and spice cocktail whose American version was assembled at the King Cole Bar of the St. Regis New York in 1934 by bartender Fernand Petiot, recruited from Harry's New York Bar in Paris (King Cole Bar archives, 2024). Petiot renamed the mix Red Snapper at the request of the hotel manager to avoid offending conservative guests, before the name Bloody Mary spread worldwide. The historic recipe combines Smirnoff vodka, tomato juice, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, Tabasco, salt and pepper, shaken twenty times and served without crushed ice. A lesser-known feature : the bar still charges a premium 32 dollar tariff on this unique cocktail, raised as a marker of the venue's historical memory.
