Wine cellar

A wine cellar (cave) at a premium hotel is the curated wine collection of the property, often built over decades or centuries. Top hotel cellars hold 5,000 to 450,000 bottles. Conditions are tightly controlled: constant temperature (12-14°C), 70-75% humidity, darkness, and zero vibration. Why this matters as a guest: a serious cellar means access to mature vintages (often 10-30+ years old), rare bottles unavailable retail, and the chance to drink wines you couldn't easily source elsewhere. Many hotels offer cellar tours (usually 30-60 minutes, sometimes with a tasting), often free for guests staying at premium room categories or available for 50-200 EUR per person. Book through the concierge or sommelier directly. Photography is usually allowed.
