Vintage effect

The vintage effect denotes the influence of a given year's weather on the character and quality of the wine produced. Summer heat, rainfall, spring frost, hail and sunshine at veraison all shape the ripeness, acidity and yield of the harvest. In regions with variable climates such as Burgundy or Bordeaux, this effect is pronounced, and two consecutive vintages can display noticeably different profiles and ageing potential.
