Turndown amenity

A turndown amenity is the small gift left during evening turndown service (between 6pm and 9pm), usually a chocolate, cookie, macaron, or local sweet placed on your pillow, alongside a card showing tomorrow's weather forecast and sometimes a suggestion for what to see or do. The Bristol Paris is famous for handcrafted chocolates from their pastry chef; Mandarin Oriental properties often leave seasonal mochi or moon cakes; many American luxury hotels leave a single piece of high-end chocolate. Sometimes the card includes the next day's local newspaper headlines or a poem. It costs the hotel very little but creates a remembered moment, and is one of the most powerful loyalty drivers in luxury hospitality, especially for women travelers.
