Tempranillo

Tempranillo is Spain's leading red grape, dominant in Rioja and Ribera del Duero. Its name derives from temprano, meaning early, a nod to its precocious ripening. Naturally low in acidity and moderate in tannin, it yields supple wines with aromas of red fruit, tobacco and leather. Extended ageing in American oak barrels, a Rioja hallmark, lends the classic notes of vanilla and coconut.
