Table

Flat facet at the top of a cut stone, the largest of all regardless of shape. The table refracts incoming light rays downward into the stone, which are then reflected back by the pavilion and exit through this same facet. Most of the light reaching the observer's eye passes through the table. Its ratio to the stone's total width influences the assigned cut grade.
