Systematic tasting grid
The systematic tasting grid refers to a structured method that orders evaluation into fixed stages: visual, olfactory and then gustatory examination, before a conclusion on quality and evolution. Formalised notably by the Wine and Spirit Education Trust and the Court of Master Sommeliers, it aims to secure objectivity, reproducibility and a shared vocabulary. Its rigour allows wines to be compared against constant criteria and supports a reasoned conclusion rather than a mere overall impression.
