Stone setting
Craft of fixing a stone onto a jewel in a secure and aesthetic manner. The setter prepares the seat, adjusts the gem, then secures it by prongs, grains, channel or bezel depending on the piece. Performed under a loupe with precision tools, it is the penultimate stage before final polishing. The quality of setting distinguishes the high jewellery workshops present in palace arcades.
