Step cut
Family of cuts with long, parallel facets arranged in steps around the table, descending toward the girdle. It notably includes the emerald and baguette cuts. Favouring the glow of broad reflective surfaces and apparent purity, it demands high-clarity stones. The step cut stands in contrast to the brilliant, whose triangular facets chase scintillation above all, making the two families visually distinct.
