Sidecar

The Sidecar refers to a cocktail of the sour family combining cognac, orange liqueur and lemon juice, shaken and served straight up, sometimes in a sugar-rimmed glass. Its earliest printed recipes appeared in 1922 in works by Robert Vermeire and Harry MacElhone. Listed among The Unforgettables of the International Bartenders Association, it illustrates the elegance of sours built on grape brandy rather than whiskey.
