Shake
Shaking refers to the vigorous agitation of a cocktail with ice in a sealed shaker, usually for ten to fifteen seconds. The action simultaneously chills, dilutes and aerates the mixture while emulsifying cloudy ingredients such as citrus juice, syrup, cream or egg white. The Daiquiri, the Whiskey Sour and the Margarita rank among the drinks that require shaking for their aerated texture.
