Sensory deprivation tank
A sensory deprivation tank (also called float tank, isolation tank, or floatation therapy) is a soundproof, lightproof pod filled with water saturated with Epsom salt (~600 kg). The high salt concentration keeps you effortlessly floating, while the water is heated to body temperature (34.5°C), making you lose physical awareness of where the water ends and your body begins. Sessions last 60-90 minutes. Benefits: deep relaxation, reduced anxiety, pain relief, improved sleep, enhanced creativity. What to expect: shower before entering, wear nothing (no swimsuit needed in private tanks), ear plugs are provided. Some people feel anxious in enclosed spaces, most modern tanks have lights and music you can switch on. Cost: 60-130 EUR per session. Available at SHA Wellness, Lanserhof, and select urban wellness centers.
