Rose cut

Antique cut without a pavilion, featuring a flat base topped by triangular facets rising to a point, its outline evoking a rosebud. Lacking a pavilion, it radiates a soft, understated glow rather than vivid fire and leaves inclusions visible. First appearing in the Renaissance, it has revived in contemporary jewellery. Palace houses favour it for its heritage character and romantic, candlelit quality.
