Pool villa
A pool villa is a hotel villa with its own private swimming pool, usually a plunge pool or small lap pool of 4 by 8 meters or larger, on a private deck or in an enclosed garden. The category was popularized by Anantara in the early 2000s and is now standard across Banyan Tree, Six Senses, Four Seasons and Aman properties. Why people pay the premium (typically 80-150% above the standard room price): you can swim at 3am, naked, alone, in total privacy. No towels-on-loungers wars at the public pool. The famous pool villas: Anantara Kihavah Beach Pool Villas (Maldives), the Sayan pool villas at Four Seasons Bali, the Pool Villas at Banyan Tree Phuket. Pricing: $1,200 to $6,000 per night. The single biggest upgrade in luxury hospitality.
