Petit Verdot

Petit Verdot is a Bordeaux red grape used in small proportions within Medoc blends. Its very late ripening makes it challenging in the Bordeaux climate, where it reaches full maturity only in warm vintages. It contributes deep colour, powerful tannins, acidity and aromas of violet, liquorice and spice. The variety has gained ground in warmer regions such as California, Spain and Australia, where ripening is more reliable.
