Pastry stand

A pastry stand is a raised support, often tiered, on which cakes, petits fours and sweets are arranged for presentation and service at table. The three-tier model, emblematic of the British afternoon tea, rises in height to offer the greatest number of pieces within a small footprint. Made of porcelain, glass or silverware, it structures the service of tea and desserts in the lounges of palaces and grand hotels, where the ritual remains a signature of the house.
