Palmeraie

A palmeraie is a cultivated oasis planted with date palms (Phoenix dactylifera), often organized in three vertical layers (palms above, fruit trees in the middle, vegetables at ground level) in a thousand-year-old agroforestry system known as the oasis garden. In Morocco, Marrakech's Palmeraie (historically around 13,000 hectares, shrinking under real estate pressure) has become a luxury hospitality cluster since the 1990s, home to Beldi Country Club, Selman Marrakech, Palais Namaskar, and Amanjena on its edge. For travelers, palmeraies deliver cooler temperatures, generous land, and an extra layer of calm away from the medina, with horseback riding through the palms a signature experience.
