Palace Atout France

Palace is a French state-level distinction created in 2010 and awarded by Atout France (the national tourism agency) to a small group of 5-star hotels that demonstrate exceptional architecture, history, prestige, or service. In 2025 there are 31 properties holding the title: 12 in Paris (Le Bristol, Plaza Athénée, George V, Ritz, Crillon, Meurice, Cheval Blanc, Mandarin Oriental, Shangri-La, Park Hyatt Vendôme, Lutetia, Royal Monceau) and 19 elsewhere in France. The label is granted for 5 years, requires a confidential dossier and on-site audit, and can be revoked. For travelers, Palace status sits above the standard 5-star classification and is the highest official hotel ranking in France.
