Michelin Three Keys

Michelin Three Keys is the highest tier of the Michelin hotel system, defined as an extraordinary stay that justifies a journey in its own right (Michelin Guide official, USA launch 2025). The inaugural 2025 American selection awards only five properties out of 124 Keys, that is 4 % of the list, a ratio comparable to the Three Stars restaurants of the red guide. The core criterion is the hotel's ability to reshape the perception of travel through its architecture, its territorial roots or its signature service. Michelin inspectors book as anonymous guests, stay a minimum of two nights and grade sixteen sub-axes separately before collegial deliberation. The list evolves yearly on the same calendar as the Stars.
