Group block

A group block is when an organization (a company holding a conference, a wedding party, a tour operator, an association) reserves a chunk of hotel rooms together, typically 10 to 200 rooms over 1 to 7 nights, at a negotiated discount of 5-30% below the public rate. Common situations: corporate events, weddings (the bride's family blocks rooms for guests), sports teams, school trips, group tours. As an individual guest invited to a wedding or event: you usually book through a personalized link or a special code provided by the organizer, securing the group rate. Watch the deadline, group rates expire (usually 30-60 days before the event), after which you pay the regular rate or risk no availability.
