Granite soil

A granite soil derives from the weathering of granite, an igneous rock rich in quartz, feldspar and mica that crumbles into a sandy, acidic grus. Light, free draining and poor, it holds little water and warms rapidly. Emblematic of Beaujolais crus such as Morgon and Moulin-a-Vent, it gives Gamay structured, age worthy wines with fine tannins and pronounced freshness on the palate.
