Departure protocol
Departure protocol is the choreographed version of check-out at luxury hotels, designed to make your last moments as memorable as the first. The bell desk typically calls 90 minutes before your departure to confirm the time and offer to come collect your bags. Your bill is pre-printed, reviewed for accuracy, and presented at the lobby or even in your suite. Bags can be stored free until you're ready to leave. Many hotels offer a parting gift, a small box of pastries, a sample of the hotel's signature scent, or even a photo of you taken during your stay. The doorman walks you to your car or taxi and uses your name in the final farewell. A small tip ($5-10) to whoever handles bags is appropriate.
