Copacabana Palace (Rio)

The Copacabana Palace is a historic Rio de Janeiro palace hotel facing Copacabana beach, opened on 13 August 1923. Designed by French architect Joseph Gire, it was built by Octávio Guinle and Francisco Castro Silva at the initiative of President Epitácio Pessoa, who wanted a grand hotel for the Independence Centenary Exposition. Delays importing Carrara marble pushed back its opening. It belongs to Belmond.
