Concierge
The concierge is your in-the-know fixer at the hotel, the person you ask when you want last-minute opera tickets, a hard-to-book restaurant, a private tour, or directions to a tailor who'll deliver a suit before you leave. Located at a dedicated desk in the lobby (separate from the front desk), they typically wear crossed golden keys on their lapel if they're members of Les Clés d'Or, the international association. Tipping is appropriate when they accomplish something special: $10-20 USD for a restaurant reservation, $50+ for a coveted booking or complex logistics. A simple direction request needs no gratuity.
