Clarity (limpidity)

Clarity refers to the absence of suspended particles and the degree of transparency in a wine, assessed by transmitted light during the visual examination. A clear, bright wine generally reflects sound filtration and microbial stability, whereas a haze or turbidity may signal refermentation, a chemical cast or a disturbed sediment. In unfiltered wines, however, a slight haze is deliberate and does not necessarily indicate a fault or spoilage.
