Civet

An animal odorous material historically taken from the glands of the civet, a mammal of the Viverridae family. Very powerful and faecal in its raw state, when diluted it brings warmth, sensuality and longevity to classic fragrances. Now largely replaced by synthetic reconstitutions for ethical reasons, civet remains an olfactory reference in the heritage of fine perfumery.
