Chinon

Chinon is a Touraine appellation, in the Loire Valley around the fortress town of the same name, mainly dedicated to red wines from cabernet franc, a grape locally called breton. It also produces some rosés and rare chenin whites. Depending on terroirs of gravel, sand or clay limestone slopes, the reds range from supple, easy drinking and fruity styles to more structured cuvées built for cellar ageing.
