Burgundy glass

The Burgundy glass is recognised by its wide, balloon-shaped bowl, designed for the delicate pinot noir reds of the region. Its generous volume encourages aeration and gathers the floral and fruity aromas towards a tapered rim. The shape directs the wine to the tip of the tongue, softening perceived acidity. Popularised by the great crystal houses, it contrasts with the taller, narrower Bordeaux glass built for firmly tannic wines.
