Boulevardier

The Boulevardier refers to a cocktail close to the Negroni in which gin gives way to American whiskey, combined with parts of Campari and red vermouth, stirred and served over ice or straight up. Its recipe appears in Harry MacElhone's Barflies and Cocktails, published in Paris in 1927, credited to Erskine Gwynne, founder of a society magazine of the same name. The whiskey lends it a warmer roundness than its gin-based relative.
