Boston shaker

The Boston shaker refers to a two-piece shaker pairing a large metal tin with a smaller glass or metal cup, joined by pressure. Favoured by professional bartenders for its capacity and speed, it requires a separate strainer, the Hawthorne, when pouring. Its all-steel form, known as tin-on-tin, has become standard in contemporary cocktail bars for its light weight and tight seal.
