Bezel setting

Setting technique that encircles the stone in a band of metal folded around its girdle. The seat is drilled to the required diameter, the walls thinned, then the edges turned down over the gem. The bezel protects the stone and suits everyday wear. It offers a clean silhouette sought by palace houses for contemporary creations and coloured stones, where a continuous metal rim frames the gem.
