Basti

A medicated enema in Ayurveda, introducing herbal oils or decoctions through the rectum. Regarded as the most powerful treatment for Vata imbalances, Basti is one of the five purificatory procedures of panchakarma. Reserved for medicalised cures supervised by an Ayurvedic physician, it appears only in palace retreats with a genuine clinical centre such as Ananda.
