Avalanche risk

The likelihood of a snow slide releasing on a slope, assessed daily by mountain services and expressed on a European scale of one to five. This bulletin guides the opening of off-piste sectors and the decisions of guides. The risk depends on the snowpack, the gradient and the weather. Mountain palaces rely on certified guides to supervise their guests according to the day's stated avalanche danger level, placing safety first.
