Armagnac

Armagnac refers to a wine spirit from Gascony, usually distilled once in a continuous column still specific to the region, which makes it more rustic and aromatic than cognac. The oldest documented French wine spirit, it ages in oak casks and develops notes of prune, rancio and spice. That deep character makes it valuable in sipping cocktails and in variations on the sidecar.
