Aquavit

Aquavit refers to a Scandinavian spirit distilled from grain or potato, whose dominant aroma comes from caraway or dill. Protected as a European geographical indication, it is traditionally drunk chilled at festive meals in Denmark, Sweden and Norway. Some Norwegian versions age in sherry casks during a sea crossing. In cocktails, its spiced signature offers a herbal alternative to gin, notably in Nordic riffs on the martini and the sour.
